"If you run, NATHAN runs with you." That has been one of our motto's for a longtime. This can also apply to our loyal pets. They will follow us to the ends of the earth, except of course if they are a cat or a chicken, in which case they will let you run to the end of the earth by yourself. To honor our pets today, April 11 on NATIONAL PET DAY, we highlight some of our athletes' and employees' best friends.
HAPPY NATIONAL PET DAY!

How you came to be with each other: I was fostering him for Doxie rescue. I became a foster failure. I adopted him. We fell in love pretty much right away.
Your pet’s favorite Nathan product: he loves the SpeedMax Plus flask. He uses the lid as a water bowl. But I must say he is digging the new Journey FastPack. He likes the fact I can now take him on multiple day adventures and runs over 25 milers. Since he fits very comfy in the pack.
If TruMan could talk, he would say: I wish people would stop saying poor little dog ! When me and my Momo run by. My Momo doesn't force me to do anything. I love to run. She adopted me and helped change my life. I was afraid of everything . But once she took me out to the trails , I came alive and felt safe. I was a poor little dog before I found running and my Momo.
Your pet’s name: Pigpen
Species or breed: 17-pound Terrier mix
Age: 3ish or something?
Favorite snack(s): Frozen green beans
Favorite Activity: Running with mommy, snuggling with mommy, biting his sister Stella's face when she steals his bones, growling at passers-by, sneaking out of the fence to bark at our bald neighbor who he is afraid of
Weekly Mileage: Pigpen goes between 20-40 MPW depending on how lazy the humans are being, and how hot it is. Long runs can get over 20 miles but only if it's not summer in Houston.
How you came to be with each other: It was Memorial Day 2015, and we had just moved into a new house in Houston in April. The first dog I ever owned, Louie, died at the end of the prior October and we adopted Stella two months after. If you know one thing about Stella, you know she's an #independentwoman: while she does like a good head scratch, she is just a bit less affectionate than my previous dog and I was itching to get another. This long weekend, we were building raised beds for a vegetable garden and planting starts. Brooks told me that if I finished my chores, we could go to the SPCA (lol). I tend to be the messy one in the relationship, so I'm sure he didn't anticipate that I would finish doing all the dishes, cleaning all the laundry, helping with the garden boxes, and cleaning the house, but I defied all odds in the name of puppies!! Brooks had always envisioned the duo of one bigger dog and one scraggly little one, and when we went to the shelter, there was Pigpen looking like the saddest dog in the world. We brought Stella to meet him and they completely ignored each other, then as I was filling out the adoption paperwork he started to bark SO LOUD that I started to freak out a little that he would be the worst dog ever. Luckily, as soon as we let him loose in the backyard he and Stella started playing and getting along - until the rain came. That night we had a giant thunderstorm stall over the city of Houston that brought torrential downpours and historic flooding, and we found out that Pigpen is afraid of thunder. Welcome home, Pip! We adopted Pigpen on the day of Houston's historic Memorial Day flood. It took just hours to learn that he is violently afraid of thunder storms.
Your pet’s favorite Nathan product: SpeedDraw Plus Insulated keeps mommy's water nice and cold so I can drink it all
If Pigpen could talk, he would say: "If you're not first you're last! HERE COME ME AND MOMMY!" (He is a very competitive runner)
Your pet’s name: Brazos

Age: 17 Weeks Old

Weekly Mileage: At least a few miles earned from walking around and playing with toys.
How you came to be with each other: My fiancé wanted a dog for a long time and Brazos was the one that won us over.
Your pet’s favorite Nathan product: I would have to say the SuperShot Hydration Bottle because of her love of water. She whines and tries to get in the sink or shower every time she hears them turn on.
If Brazos could talk, (s)he would say: “Can I see your hand?” and then she would bite it. She’s really into biting.

Your pet’s favorite Nathan product: The VaporAir… he drinks from the 2L bladder hose and the front stash pocket holds his Nacho snacks.

Your pet’s name: Stella

Favorite snack(s): Carrots and Peanut Butter
Favorite Activity: Swimming at White Rock Lake
Weekly Mileage: 20 miles per week
How you came to be with each other: Stella was sleeping on a little blue blanket and a pet rescue event. I couldn’t help but to take her home that day.
Your pet’s favorite Nathan product: VaporAiress
If Stella could talk, (s)he would say: Don’t go to work today. Stay home so we can spend the day together.
Megan & David Roche
Your pet’s name: Addie the Adventure Dog. Aka Ms. Hairy Nugget Zebraploof if you nasty
Species or breed: We were told spaniel/retriever mix, though likely part unicorn
Favorite snack(s): She has never seen food she didn’t love. Peanut Butter Puffins are our go-to treat for runs
Favorite Activity: Snuggling after eating
Weekly Mileage: 20 (15 in one run)
How you came to be with each other: We were driving down a back-road in rural North Carolina when we passed through the little town of Walnut Cove. At the only stoplight, there was a sign that said “FREE PUPS.” A litter was unattended in a pick-up truck outside the hardware store. Even then, Addie was ridiculous—a 5-week old puppy that was going crazy to love everyone and everything that passed, even as her litter-mates crowded in the back scared. Megan fell in love, and the rest is history. From backwoods NC, Addie has now visited (aka pooped in) 29 states.
If Addie could talk, she would say: I LOVE YOU AND FOOD BUT MOSTLY YOU
Greg Brantner, Marketing Manager
Your pet’s name: Mina
Species or breed: Beagle/Jack Russel
Age: 7 or 9
Favorite snack(s): Pig’s ears and cat food
Favorite Activity: Sleeping, sighing like an old man, getting muddy on trails, defending her couch-turf from the cats, nervously shaking uncontrollably, and shame-hiding under furniture
Weekly Mileage: NA – Mina’s in it for the love of sport, not the miles and accolades
How you came to be with each other: Mina is a pound puppy whose given name was Sweetie. When I saw her, shivering and curled up in the far back corner of her kennel, she gave me a look that said, “Not Sweetie – anything but this terrible name”.
Your pet’s favorite Nathan product: I stuffed her into a VaporAir once, and though she fought it at first, eventually she gave up, and found a way to make herself comfortable.
If Mina could talk, she would say: “The cats plot against me all day long, when I’m sleeping in my crate”
HAPPY NATIONAL PET DAY from NATHAN!
