An Unconventional Champion
As you plan your own 2016 running resolutions, we offer up this Journeys in Running story about serial racer and unconventional champion, Michael Wardian. Few people in the world would be willing to take on the sheer volume of miles and races that Michael does, but we take great inspiration from the fact that he manages to juggle his amazing regimen with a full-time job, spousal and parental responsibilities, and a generally busy lifestyle… just like the rest of us. The lessons from Michael’s disciplined approach to building a running lifestyle is that it really is all about priorities and finding your personal balance. Enjoy!
If you think elite athletes don’t struggle like the rest of us with everyday issues of seeking work / life balance, then just press play. In this short film, champion ultra runner Stephanie Howe opens up and lets us in on the truth behind what it means for an admitted “type triple-A” person to find equilibrium amidst the daily demands brought on by her multiple roles, including newly-wed, nutritionist, running coach, and world-class endurance athlete. Lessons that she has learned through her journey in running can be applied by all of us as we seek our own forms of balance in a busy and demanding world.
With sections of the the jaw-dropping UTMB course near Chamonix, France as his backdrop, Team Nathan member and world-class ultra-runner, Michael Wardian, discusses his relationship with running and hydration as an important part of his preparation. Michael has made running an integral part of his life’s journey, and here he discusses that journey and the role hydration, and Nathan, play in his approach. We encourage all runners, at any level, to create your own videos about your unique journeys in running and upload them to Nathan's website via our #JourneysInRunning page.
